Nigeria’s trending singer, Simi, is set to depart her record label, X3M Music. The music star had been with the label for five years. In a statement sent to media houses, X3M Music revealed that Simi’s contract has expired and it was a mutual agreement not to renew it.
In a statement signed by A&R executive Vincent Nwanze, X3M music said:
“We only sign artistes that we love and believe in. We know our taste in music is rather different; but we only sign talents who meet that taste. Fortunately, we have been able to find millions of music lovers here and abroad, who share similar tastes, as is evident in the success of all the artistes we have worked with, including Simi who is without any doubt one of the biggest music talents in the country today.”
Simi recently released her final album under X3M Music on her birthday, April 19, 2019. The album title, ‘Omo Charlie Champagne’, was a form of tribute to the singer’s late father. According to the singer, her uncles used to call her dad Charlie Champagne when she was a kid. He passed away in 2014.
